In 2024, Flushing Town Hall was invited by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to lead The Queens Cultural Mapping Initiative, designed to document the rich and diverse artistic landscape of Queens. The project celebrates the cultural contributions of its communities while also shedding light on the challenges they face.
Through this work, our team connected with over 150 artists and arts and cultural organizations across the borough. A clear need emerged: a centralized, accessible resource that would connect artists, cultural organizations, and community spaces throughout Queens. This digital map was created in direct response to that need.
Our goal is for this map to be a valuable tool that fosters connections among artists, cultural workers, and community spaces in Queens— supporting deeper exploration, engagement, and collaboration across the borough’s vibrant creative communities.
We’re excited to continue growing this resource.
